PREMISE “God loves us for who we are, but loves us too much to leave us this way.”

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2 NIV

2 Questions to Answer  What does it mean to control our minds?  How can we control our minds?

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. Colossians 3:1-2

What does it mean to control our minds? Get a heavenly perspective

For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your[a] life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. Colossians 3:4-5

What is a Heavenly Perspective? It means we have the following things through our union with Christ…

 Position of Christ  Power of Christ  Presence of Christ  Passion of Christ (Unending Love For Us)  Promises of Christ What we have in Christ…

WHEN BAD THINGS HAPPEN..all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28b NIV

WHEN WE LOSE A LOVED ONE… For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21 NIV

WHEN WE’VE MESSED UP For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime. Psalm 30:5a

WHEN WE’RE EXPERIENCING HARDSHIP Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5b

How do we control our minds? We practice using heavenly perception

A heavenly perspective and heavenly perception gives rise to… Heavenly action—doing what Jesus would do What would Jesus do, starts with what would Jesus think.

The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Matthew 4:3 NIV Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. ’” Matthew 4:4 NIV How Jesus Controlled His Mind

“If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: Matthew 4:6 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test. ’” Matthew 4:7 NIV

“All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me. Matthew 4:9 NIV Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only. ’”Matthew 4:10 NIV

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16 NIV Believe the Bible is True

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double- edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 NIV Believe the Bible is Powerful

BELIEVE YOU HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST AND LET CHRIST DEVELOP YOUR MIND TO THINK LIKE HIS DOES. MEMORIZE KEY BIBLE VERSES AND LEARN THEIR PROPER USE AGAINST THE ENEMY. MEET REGULARLY WITH OTHERS WHO HAVE STRONG SPIRITUAL MENTAL HEALTH AND HELP ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER. Takeaways
