Presentation transcript:

Warm Up Friday, 11/7 Take notes on chapters 10 and 11 by using this format:

Learning Targets  To review content from Ch. 10 and 11 of Catcher in the Rye.  To assess whether Holden functions as an ISFP, and examine what each of the four components of that personality type reveals about him.  To revisit the Myers-Briggs personality types and assess their usefulness in understanding characters in the text.

(very) Quick Review of Ch.10 & 11  What happens during chapters 10 and 11?  Any questions while reading?

Group Work 1. With 2-3 other students, review your notes for chapters 10 and Each group will examine one of the four components of the Myers-Briggs. I.e. Is Holden an introvert or an extrovert? Find a QUOTE that proves it. Then, we will record our answers on the board.

Independent Work  Once we as a class agree on his personality type, answer this question: based on the identified personality type and also what we’ve seen him get into so far, what can we predict he will do in the next few chapters?

Usefulness of Theories Chart Label the third column “Myers-Briggs.” Then, answer these questions:  Can you describe this theory in 1-2 sentences? If so, do it!  On a scale of 1-5, 5 being the most useful, assess how helpful this theory is in helping you to better understand the characters. Write a quick explanation.  Label 1-2 aspects that are helpful to you, and anything about this theory that makes it less useful to you.

Homework  Read chapters 12, 13, and 14 of Catcher in the Rye.
