 On Jimmy’s daily walk to Bridge Street Elementary School in Los Angeles, California he exposes himself to these following health issues...  development/ worsening of asthma  allergies  respiratory issues  weakened immune systems  How Come?  Los Angeles experiences the highest pollution levels of any city in the U.S.  Jimmy in particular, is exposed to even more pollution because of Bridge Street Elementary School’s close proximity to multiple highways  Children are more likely to see effects from pollution if exposed at a young age Opening Story... hics/thumbs/877/school- boy_ jpg

Social Trends  High levels of pollution exposures in the school environment disproportionately occur in school in low income communities  Also disproportionately affects minority children  Both of these factors- low income communities and  minorities- are seen in Bridge Street Elementary School  This then becomes a Human Rights Issue  Just because children live in low income neighborhoods  doesn’t mean they should be exposed to harmful pollutants rg/wp- content/uploads/2014/04/crime _human_rights.gif
