Power Quality Product Overview GE Consumer & Industrial

Content Introduction UPS Products Static Transfer Switches GE’s unique technologies

Energy is the Key The actual power grid was built to supply the 3 main inventions of the last Century: the light bulb the electric motor the refrigerator Utilities provide a reliability of 99,9% = 8 hours out of tolerance/year „good enough“ for this type of application To produce, store, transfer and restore 4 MB of data we „burn“ the energy equivalent of 1 Kilo of coal

= Utility not meeting business requirements Process Fact: 99.9% Need: 99,9999999..% ELECTRICAL POWER „DIGITAL WORLD“ CRITICAL RAW MATERIAL OF THE 21ST CENTURY: QUANTITY & QUALITY & RELIABILITY OF ELECTRONS

Single Phase output UPS Typical Application ML Series 350 - 1000VA (Sourced) Entry level product range Line interactive pluggable Single PC EPOS CCTV cameras Match 500 - 3000VA Mid level line interactive pluggable High reliability and performance Small server Hubs, routers NetPro Servers and PCs Small IT networks Telecom networks Process control 600 - 4000VA Double conversion pluggable Mature technology, replacement 2006 LP Series The ML Series is for simple applications requiring a medium level of protection. Both the ML Series and the Match UPS are line interactive, so they provide voltage stabilisation but do not stabilise any frequency that may be out of tolerance coming from the mains. The main performance difference between the ML and the Match is the waveform shape when the UPS provides power from the battery. The ML gives a square shaped waveform, the Match a sinewave. Sinewave is better for more sensitive loads such as routers. The Match is one of our most reliable UPS ranges in terms of performance. Our main competitor for both the ML and the Match is APC. APC have a very wide distribution model. We are developing more channels into distribution to increase our market penetration with these products. The NetPro UPS is pluggable (like the ML and Match) but has a completely different technical design. The NetPro protects also from frequency irregularities. The NetPro marks the start of our Double Conversion – or Voltage and Frequency Independent – UPS. We sell the NetPro into both the IT and the industrial (process control for loads such as elevators, electronic doors, etc) marketplace. We also have a project running at the moment to sell this to GE Wind for their turbine applications. It‘s also approved by DNV for maritime use. Main competitors include Powerware, MGE and APC. The NetPro and the Match make very good margins. They also have an excellent warranty period of three years because of the Superior Battery Management. The LP series of UPS begins our installable ranges. The LP has some unique features that allow us to sell into some specific markets where a standard UPS (without additional filters, etc) would normally not do the job. It‘s tranformer-based, and so provides ultimate protection against disturbances. The LP Series RPA make the UPS scalable and means the customer can have an N+1 solution to protect very critical loads. Main competitors for the LP include Powerware, Liebert and MGE. 3 - 10kVA LP11/31T 8 - 20kVA LP31 Double conversion installable Unique RPA Mid-range IT networks Healthcare equipment Process control Large telecom networks

Three Phase output UPS Typical Application 10 - 120kVA LP33 Series Typical Application Healthcare equipment IT infrastructure Telecom networks 10 - 120kVA Transformerless; Clean Input Tech Small footprint, front access SitePro 10 - 60kVA ; 250 - 500kVA Transformer base design Configurable according to installation requirements Process control Transportation infrastructure Telecom networks Healthcare equipment SG Series LP33: - The low footprint of the LP33 is best in class and provides the user with more space for other equipment. Combined with its low weight, it can be easily handled, reducing installation time and costs. (transformerless technology) - GE’s clean input Active IGBT technology provides low input harmonics feedback distortion, constant for all load levels from 20% to 100% load. This allows the user to save in the sizing of upfront UPS equipment: generator sets, cabling and circuit breakers. It also reduces the disturbance on nearby equipment without the need of additional filters.  - Input/Output terminals are easily accessible from the front, as are all other serviceable parts. True front access provides the possibility to place the unit against a wall or in a ‘back to back ‘ configuration, saving floor space for other customer equipment (for example, in a data center,…) and reducing repair time. - EMC class A filters are installed as standard (at no additional cost) in the UPS, ensuring the reduction of interference with other equipment supported in the application (telecom, broadcasting,…). This protects the quality of the customer application equipment, for example with images from a medical scanner in healthcare application. Other UPS without the EMC filters as standard can cause interference leading to a distorted image. SitePro: - Transformer technology reuired by customers... Innova healthcare project 10-20kVA and now 30kVA - Configurable: Extensive options to satify particular customers requests (eg isolation adaptation transformer for customers that have different local voltage) SG Series: - High efficiency 91% reduced customers opeartion costs and cost saving in air conditioning design (eg medical equipmet) - True front access for operation and maintennace saving space at customers site; installing against wall,;easy to handle - Load galvanic separation : Interference reducttion with other customer equipment - No voltage distortion for typical medical equipment: enhanced medical equipment productivity; improved quality of application (EG images) and reduced service intervention (~60% labor hour and spare parts reduction) 80 - 200kVA Best in class in output performance EMC solution for critical applications IT networks Industrial applications Broadcasting systems
