Statistics 1 cardiac arrest every 12 minutes. More than 6,500 people in Ontario die of a sudden cardiac arrest. Toronto Paramedics respond to over 2,000 sudden cardiac arrests each year. Without rapid and appropriate treatment, most cardiac arrests result in death. Those who survive will have permanent brain damage.

We can do Better! The odds of surviving a cardiac arrest is roughly 5% in Toronto and with each passing minute the probability of survival declines by 7 – 10%. Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), combined with CPR and activating emergency medical services increase the chance of survival by up to 75%.
