Observations ●The fish is red ●The fish is made of a soft, thin material ●The fish moves when put on hand ●The fish doesn't move the same every time.

Experimental Procedure 1.Gather materials 2.Test fish on normal hand for 15 seconds 3.Record results 4.Add 1 drop of room temperature water to hand 5.Rub hands together for 5 seconds 6.Test fish for 15 seconds 7.Record results 8.Draw four 8 inch lines on the board with chalk 9.Erase lines with hand 10.Test fish on hand for 15 seconds 11.Record results

Hypothesis ● Hypothesis- An assumption of the outcome of an experiment following an “If_____Then____Because___” format. ●The independent variable should be in the “If” statement, and the dependent variable should follow the “Then” statement.

●Independent Variable- The variable in an experiment that is being changed. ●Dependant Variable- The variable in an experiment that is affected by the change of the Independent Variable. ●Control Group- The group in the experiment that is not changed for comparison. ●Controlled Variables- Variables that don’t change. Hypothesis (cont.)

●Independent variable- Amount of moisture on our hands ● Dependent variable - The fish’s scale of movement from 1-10 ●Control group - No moisture on our hands ●Controlled Variables - Same amount of water, same temperature, rubbed hands the same amount of time, same environment, same person each time Hypothesis (cont.)

●If we change the level of moisture on our hands, then the fish’s level of movement will vary because the fish reacts to moisture.

Conclusion ●The fish increases in movement when it comes in contact with water ●Supported our hypothesis ●Normal hand; 7 & 5 on scale of movement ●Drop of water; 9 & 8 on scale of movement ●Chalk; 2 & 4 on scale of movement

Data Components Scale Of Movement (1-10) Control (Plain Hands) Spencer 7 Ryan 5 Water (Room Temperature) 9 8 Chalk (4 8in. lines) 2 4
