SOLUTION NILE PERCH (LATES NILOTICUS)

BIG fish with an enormous appetite. Nile perch eat fish (including their own species) crustaceans, insects, and mollusks. Can live up to 16 years and the females reach sexual maturity at 3 years of age. Prolific breeders producing up to 16 million eggs per breeding cycle.

An easy fish to catch using commercial fishing techniques. A popular fish in sport fishing.

The introduction of the Nile perch has had a significant effect on the fishing industry. Large factory fishing corporations have prospered greatly due to the development of the Nile perch. Labor demands have increased as well for the fishing, processing transport and export of the fish.

All along the lake shore, “boom towns” have cropped up.
