Kingdom - Plants

What are the characteristics of all members of the Plant Kingdom? Eukaryotic Autotrophic Can go through Photosynthesis Multicellular Can reproduce asexually (cuttings) or Sexually (flowers or cones)

Types of Seed – Producing Plants Remember that a seed is a baby plant (embryo) inside a box with its lunch Two divisions of plants that produce seeds – Conifers – Conifers – pines and spruces (evergreens) Produce cones – Flowering plants – Oaks, maples, tulips, roses… Produce flowers

Plant Structures Roots Roots – Anchorage – Absorption of water – Food storage

Stems – Transport water and nutrients up and around plant – Hold leaves and flowers upright – Store food – Sometimes, photosynthesis such as with cacti

Leaves Leaves – Photosynthesis

Flowers Flowers – Sexual Reproduction – Produce egg (in ovary) and sperm (pollen) – Hermaphroditic – both sexes food filament
