World War II The HOME FRONT Part III

United Service Organizations (USO) 1. How and why did the USO get started? (*hint… go to “About Us” and read the History of the USO section) 2. What is the mission of the USO? 3. Explore some of the services that they provide and choose two and explain what each of them do. 4. Read about Entertainment. a. How did entertainers help during WWII? b. Find the names of at least three entertainers who have been on a USO tours recently. 5. What is the slogan or motto of the USO? (you may have to google it)

Home Life Go to the link below and click on “Home Life” to explore a typical household of that time. Click on the color pictures in each of the two rooms (the 1940s Living Room & Kitchen) to read about each item. Choose at least 4 from each room and write at least two sentences summarizing what the item represents and how it was used during WWII (that makes a total of 8 items). (*think about… difference from what you know about that item today, how it was used, how does reflect a country at war? etc.).
