Floridan Aquifer Alison and Austin

Location The Floridan Aquifer runs through South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida. The Floridan is one of the major sources of groundwater in the US. 82,000 miles long

Usage More than 3 billion gallons of water are taken from the Floridan Aquifer. In most areas it's the only source of fresh water in the area. It also provides irrigation and mining.

Pollution Because of over usage the water level of the Floridan Aquifer has gone down drastically. In addition the aquifer has suffered from salt water pollution because of how they suck the water out of the aquifer. Sadly the aquifer can not clean itself up naturally so the only way to get rid of pollutants is to pump it out.

Pollution cont; The aquifer can not recharge itself either because of the low rainfall. With the low rainfall, pollution and the growing population the aquifer may not last much longer.
