 Help a family in St. John’s at Christmas time.  Mother (24) and is expecting a baby boy in January!  Father (29)  Three little boys- 7, 6 & 2  New home with very little 1. Our Local Contribution

 Arrived in Canada in September  Originally from the Sudan  Refugees- living in camp  Were taken in by the Canadian government for a new life in Canada… to live the “Canadian Dream”  Let’s make their first Christmas in Canada one to remember! New Canadians

 Wars for 25 years  Religion  Oil  Ethnicity  “Pointless Fighting”  Hardships  Villagers and Refugees  Lost Boys/Child soldiers  2 Million Dead  Millions Displaced  Often into refugee camps Conflict in Sudan

 Sudan and surrounding countries have some of the harshest refugee camps in the world  For people who have no where else to go  Very basic way of living- basic needs are hard to come by  Food rations  Not allowed to work (Kenya) Refugee Camps

 What do you think they would need for their first winter EVER?  They’re used to warmth! The sun! Dry heat!  They have never lived in a home like ours.  What do you think they would need?  The 3 boys have never attended a school like ours.  What do you think they would need to feel comfortable and accepted at school? New Lives in Canada- a lot to get used to!

 Lets get some things to help out the family!  BIG and small!  3 Boys- Clothes? Toys? Books? Art supplies?  Mom and Dad- Clothes? Books? Decorations?  House- Kitchen supplies? Blankets? Towels?  Toiletries- Toothbrushes, soap, shampoo,  Food- School lunches, gift cards to grocery store, treats,  What else??? Donate!

 Be creative in how you get your donations!  Write a letter to your family asking for a donation  Write a letter to a local business asking for a donation  Roll up your coins!  Do some extra chores for cash  ……. Donations
