WELCOME Welcome to my e-portfolio on Introduction to Engineering Design! I am a sophomore and attend Uniondale High School and Doshi STEM Institute. I thankyou for looking and taking your time in viewing my portfolio. I hope you can view what I’ve learned and the work and effort put into this class. About Me and IED Table of Contents Curriculum Work

About Me: I am 15 years old and I attend Uniondale High School. I have played and loved soccer ever since I was 5 years old. I am amazed with the galaxy, stars, and everything out there. My dream is to work for NASA and maybe even be an astronaut and travel to the moon. In the future, I am planning to be an architect, entrepreneur, and aerospace engineer. I love look at the stars at night with a really nice breeze and just relax and forget about the world. I also like to eat, listen to music, and watch movies. About IED: This PLTW course develops student problem-solving skills using a design development process. Models of product solutions are created, analyzed, and communicated using solid modeling computer software. IED is an exciting entry-level engineering design course, which encourages hands on participation in exploring various forms of communication. Students will learn design fundamentals and problem solving skills in individual and group settings. They will create a portfolio including sketches, renderings, and 3D CAD models. Inventor software is used for visualizing 3D CAD models. This course strongly recommended for students exploring design, engineering, architecture, technical, construction, manufacturing, and graphic design careers.

Unit 1- Design Process  Sketching Warm-up  1.4 Product Improvement  1.7 “What is this?” Unit 2- Technical Sketching and Drawing  Perspective Sketching  Multiview Sketching  Instant Challenge Unit 3- Measurement  US and/or Metric Measurement  Dial Calipers  Dimensioning

For this assignment we were supposed to look at a paper with the objects and sketch them into our notebooks without using a ruler. I learned that if you mess up, but you keep trying you can achieve your goal. I can improve on my shading and on sketching.

For this assignment we were supposed to brainstorm, sketch, and invent a new type of cup. I learned that your imagination can run free because you may never know what can come out of anything. I can improve my cup by making it shock proof and more economic.

In this assignment we were given a picture of an object and we had to come up with what it was, how it works, and how it affects society. I learned that even the simplest things can be made into the most creative and extraordinary things. I think I can improve on the usefulness of my product.

For this assignment we were supposed to create a 1-point perspective drawing. I learned that different perspective point drawings change completely the view of an image. I can improve on sketching better 1-point perspectives.

For this assignment we were supposed to construct the three types of views of an object ( front, top, right side). I learned how to draw different views and perspectives of an object. I can improve on being more accurate with the hidden line.

For this assignment we were to construct a paper bridge with span blocks and a card stock. The paper couldn’t be able to touch the table and the paper had to be linked together. I learned team building skills because we were put into groups. I can improve in communicating with team members and also ideas in how to solve challenges.

This assignment required us to analyze the table with metric conversions and also to convert the measurements from problems a-j on a separate sheet of paper. I can improve on being more accurate with decimals and remembering my units.

For this assignment we discovered and learned how to use a dial caliper. I learned how to use it, when to use it, and being accurate when measuring a distance and/or object. I can improve on being more precise when taking measures.

For this assignment we took notes and did a worksheet about dimensions. We learned how to find the height, width, and depth in each Multiview sketching and also where the best location to look for them is. I can improve on remembering which view is which and remembering the best spot to look for each measurement.
