Two types of prepositions 1. Simple prepositions = preposizioni semplici 2. Articulated prepositions = preposizioni articolate

Preposizioni Semplici di - of, from a - of, to da - from, by in - in con - with su - on per - for tra/fra - between

“Di” & “A” di (d’) - of, from a - of, to, in NOTE: “di” becomes “d’ ” before another vowel Ex) d’italia, d’estate, d’argento a - of, to, in NOTE: “a” becomes “ad” before another vowel ~ “la d eufonica” - agreeable in sound & pleasing to the ear Ex) "...comincia ad aumentare la respirazione..."

Articulated Prepositions Articulated prepositions are more complex than simple prepositions They are formed when you combine a “SPRE” with a definite article. Ex) Def Article: il, lo, la, l’, gli, le, i

E’ facile... All you have to do is take the simple preposition and elide (combine) it with the definite article that would precede the noun in the clause. ex) a + il ristorante = al ristorante
