What is Move on When Ready (MOWR) ? Earn college credit in high school All tuition, mandatory fees, and books are covered Gain exposure to college level rigorous courses before graduating high school All coursework added to high school transcript, some satisfying graduation requirements Students currently in the 9 th, 10 th and 11 th grades are eligible

Who is eligible for MOWR? Students who are: -self-motivated -independent learners -academically accelerated Students who meet the criteria of the postsecondary institutions Students who have reliable transportation View video on next slide about MOWR.

Courses you will be taking… Are college level courses. Students will be expected to perform at level equal to or above students who have already graduated high school. You must be mature, self-motivated, and aware of your academic progress. If you do not maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)—you can be removed from the program.

Courses available… Courses are listed in the MOWR Course Directory by institution Some courses are online—be sure that is a good fit before enrolling. If you are using a course to satisfy a graduation requirement and that course is an EOC course, you must take the EOC here at CCHS as part of that course—no exceptions!!

Courses that will transfer from a Technical College in GA to a University System School in Ga.

Courses that will transfer from a Technical College in GA to a University System School in Ga. –con’t. If you take any course that is not on this slide or the previous slide—it may not transfer to the college or university you attend after high school graduation. Please be mindful of that as you sign up for courses.

Benefits of MOWR Earn college credit while still in high school Get a head start on adjusting to the college experience while still in high school More likely to go to college and get a college degree May be able to take courses that are not offered at their high school. Build confidence and encourage students who may have thought college was too difficult.

Who offers the MOWR program? Augusta University -Overall GPA of 3.0 -Combined SAT of 1000 or ACT composite of 21 or higher -Must be a Junior or Senior Interest meetings February 16 and March 15 on AU campus. Go to to register for the interest meetings. Fall Admissions Deadline is June 1 st.

Who offers the MOWR program? East GA State College -SAT of 970 or -ACT composite of 20 or -Exempting COMPASS exam score -Overall GPA of 3.0 Hopefully offering a couple of courses here at CCHS next school term. Currently offering psychology.

Don’t have a 3.0? Augusta Technical College -no GPA requirement -SAT or ACT not required- Compass testing used for course placement Not all courses transfer to a 4 year institution (Most of your academic courses will transfer—but the technical(welding, auto, cosmetology, etc), business, criminal justice, and or computer courses might not transfer.

Don’t have a 3.0? Georgia Military College -2.5 GPA requirement -Will use ACT, SAT, or Compass exam to meet admission requirement Information Night will be held on Tuesday, February 9 th at 5:30 pm on the GMC-Augusta campus. RSVP to Missy Usry at

Interested in MOWR? Start studying for the SAT or ACT Concentrate on your grades Meet with your counselor and parent/guardian Learn the application requirements of each institution Be sure you have reliable transportation

Next steps… Discuss the MOWR program with your parents Meet with your counselor to discuss courses and the MOWR process Apply to the institution you want to attend Study for the entrance test you plan to take—SAT, ACT, or COMPASS Attend interest meeting at Augusta University (if that is where you want to attend). SAT Preparation Class For current Juniors Only— CCHS is offering a SAT Prep class for the March 5 SAT Class is limited to 20 students. East Georgia State College East Georgia will be at Cross Creek on Monday, February 1 st, We will be on Afternoon Assembly schedule. Students in the 10 th and 11 th grades will be invited to come to the gym to hear about what East Georgia State College can offer both here in Augusta and at their two other campuses in Swainsboro and Statesboro
