Luna’s Courage By: Maryanna Colwell

Once upon a time, in a distant land, was the Dark Woods. A mysterious place where strange things happened- Magical Things, and that is where our story starts…

This story begins with one small fairy named Lunacia, or Luna for short. Luna is very shy. She thinks the other fairies will not like her.

Luna has a different talent. While other fairies can talk to animals or help flowers grow, she can control moonlight. She can move it and carry it in her hands. Luna can even put the light in a crystal to make it glow.

Luna always got scared when the other fairies came by. She hid in the shadows. She felt left out, but didn’t come out because she was too shy.

Luna spent most of her time at Mirror Pond. It was a place where your reflection was as clear as if it was in a polished mirror. She would look at the moon’s reflection on the pond. She thought it look so pretty.

One day, she was looking at herself in the pond---thinking. That day, she decided that she was going to talk to a group of fairies. She thought that they looked nice enough to like her.

Luna walks up to the fairies and nervously says, “Hi.” They sweetly say hello back to Luna. She is surprised. They are being nice too her!

Luna starts talking to the fairies. She realizes that she is not that different. Luna and the fairies start talking about Mirror Pond, their favorite place to be.

Luna flutters her wings in excitement. She had just made new friends! She shows her friends her glowing crystals. They show her the flowers they had been picking to braid into flower crowns.

Luna realizes that with courage, that you can do anything. Because of her courage, she overcame her shyness and made new friends. Remember, that deep in Magical Dark Forest, ANYTHING can happen.
