DEFINITION: A DAMAGE TO ANY PART OF THE SPINAL CORD OR NERVES AT THE END OF SPINAL CANAL. OFTEN CAUSE PERMANENT CHANGES IN STRENGTH, SENSATION AND OTHER BODY FUNCTION.

SYMPTOMS: LOSS OF MOVEMENT LOSS OF SENSATION LOSS OF BLADDER OR BOWEL CONTROL EXAGGERATED REFLEX ACTIVITIES, OR SPASMS

CAUSES DAMAGE TO THE VERTEBRAE, LIGAMENTS OR DISKS OF THE SPINAL COLUMN. TRAUMATIC BLOW TO YOUR SPINE FRACTURING, DISLOCATING, CRUSHING, OR COMPRESSING ONE OR MORE OF YOUR VERTEBRAE.

RISK FACTORS FEMALES ACCOUNT FOR ONLY ABOUT 20 PERCENT OF TRAUMATIC SPINAL CORD INJURIES IN THE UNITED STATES, SO IT IS MORE COMMON IN MEN. YOU’RE MOST LIKELY TO SUFFER FROM SPINAL CORD INJURIES IF YOU’RE BETWEEN THE AGES OF IF YOU’RE OLDER THAN 65, SPINAL CORD INJURIES MAY BE A RESULT TO FALLING.
