Sex Can Wait – Lesson 4 – The importance of self-esteem

Self- Esteem The feelings people have with regard to their own worth In its most positive sense it is a realistic appraisal and acceptance of oneself, without exaggerated pride or conceit

When people hold themselves in high esteem They don’t have a need to prove themselves to anyone They are motivated to try more things and will therefore have more success They turn mistakes, failures and setbacks into new challenges They enjoy more relaxed, satisfying relationships

When people’s self esteem is low They don’t like themselves They enjoy life less They have difficult time developing and maintaining friendships They can retreat from challenges They are devastated by setbacks and failures They blame others They are fearful and anxious

Self-Esteem Self Esteem is critical in determining how a person experiences life High self esteem allows you to act more readily upon your own thoughts, attitudes and values High self esteem contributes to clear thinking and wiser decisions
