CITA ACADEMY Lessons by Tina Brown

Book Club Banter Students will use a wiki to edit, post opinions, and add additional comments on “Book Club” titles. I can form an opinion of a book and post it on a wiki. I can read a posting about a book and edit it for proper grammar. I can read someone else’s comment and add to it for more clarification.

Book Fair Blizzard Students will “advertise” new book titles coming to the Book Fair using a podcasting format. I can summarize book jacket information in a few sentences. I can record a podcasting segment. I can work cooperatively with a group.

What’s a Bluebonnet Book? Students will use Photostory software to produce a slide show that will be used in the morning announcements to promote the Bluebonnet program for 3 rd – 5 th grade students. I can summarize a Bluebonnet title in 3 great sentences. I can put titles on slides in Photostory. I can record my voice reading my “snippet” of my Bluebonnet title.

Fun With Dr. Seuss! During Children’s Book Week, a bilingual 2 nd grade class will reciprocate with an English speaking class. I can vote for my favorite Dr. Seuss book. I can answer questions related to the results of the graph. I can participate in a videoconference.

Tale of Despereaux After a book club on “Tale of Despereaux” is completed, students will produce a 10 question multiple choice test. I can write multiple choice questions. I can use Google Docs.
