Project Abstract To design and build a self-aiming (go-to) telescope that utilizes various sensors (gps, compass, accelerometer) and a celestial database (Android application) to automatically find and track planets and star bodies

Packaging Constraints 2-axis movement of telescope via vex motors (x-y plane and y-z plane) Universal attachments to easily attach to telescope and tripod 7.2V required for (2) 393 Vex Motors – 100 rpm at no load – Need to gear down for more torque 10 lb telescope to support 12” x 12” x 12” design goal

Orion StarBlast 6i Reflector Telescope 2-axis movement – Base (x-y plane) allows for 360 degree rotation – y-z plane allows for 90 degree rotation Tube rings allow easy telescope attachment How to attach to tripod?

Meade Refractor Telescope 2-axis movement – No motors included More simplistic design – Smaller/lighter refractor telescope No need for counter weights 360 degree swivel attachment to tripod
