The first British Colony of Roanoke, originally consisted of 100 householders, was founded in In July, 108 men went on shore at Roanoke Island. Their leader was Sir Walter Raleigh. They built a fort and houses, planted crops, and looked for gold. Around a year later hurricanes and Indians forced them to go back to England. Also the survivors began starving because the Indians had stopped giving them food. This first colony of Roanoke lasted a total of 10 months.

The Roanoke Government was ruled by English people which made it a monarchy government.

Sir Walter Raliegh organized it and Ralph Lane and Richard Grenville carried it out in the 16th century. Who later transported the colonists to India.

These colonists were ill-prepared and not particularly clever, because, although they depended upon the local Indians for food, they also antagonized the Indians by such tactics as kidnapping them and holding them hostage in exchange for information. Unfortunately for the colonists, who were desperately in need of supplies, Grenville's return was delayed. As a result, when Sir Francis Drake put in at Roanoke after destroying the Spanish colony of St. Augustine, the entire colony returned with Drake to England.

They had a plan of Government which had English people ruling it so in other words they were a Monarchy Governmnet.

Charter to Sir Walter Raleigh:Sir Walter Raleigh to found a colony in America. John White: John white returned to the Roanoke Colony on The 15 of August towards Euening and came to an anker at Hatorask, in 36 degr. and one third, in fiue fadom water, three leagues from the shore. At first they cmae upon, and saw a great smoke rise in the Ile Roanoak neere the place where they left the Colony in the yeere 1587, which smoake put vs in good hope that some of the Colony were there expecting his return out of England.
