1 TO THE PRESENTATION ON RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE WORKING GROUP No.IV ON UNDER-PRIVILEGED SECTION(ST,SC,OBC AND RM) WELCOME

2 Recommendations concern key sectors affecting the under privileged namely: Forest Agriculture Irrigation Power Medical/Health Transport and Communication Tourism Skill up-gradation Information and Technology

3 Forest Allowing tribals to take up economic activities in forest area not compromising with reduction of forest coverage State policy on Bamboo delegating rights to tribal people in procuring, selling and management of bamboo may be framed Research initiatives on “WADO” bamboo need be taken

4 Agriculture Sector Priority to be given for aromatic and medicinal plant cultivation Measures to check soil erosion Alternative technology to Jhum to be adopted and required training and motivation to be provided Emphasis on areca-nut and banana cultivation in tribal areas Provide strong economic support for future income through plantation crops like rubber, horticulture etc. Encourage Jhumias in marketing by themselves To create marketing infrastructure in interior areas

5 Irrigation Extending irrigation facilities in interior areas to the maximum extent

6 Power Comprehensive policy on extension and distribution of Power to the under-privileged in interior areas need be framed To explore possibilities of one Mini Hydel Project at Gobindabari-Rajdhar-Malidhar areas of Dhalai District

7 Medical/Health Documentation and patenting of the herbal/tribal medicines Building up modern and high tech. health facilities through private sector

8 Transport and Communication All unconnected hamlets be connected by roads to the main road and markets Rajdhar para be connected by road with the main road of Chaumanu Block

9 Tourism Develop Dumbur Lake for Tourist interest by way of setting up of Police station, communication, speed boat facility etc. Local tribal people to be made owners of this tourist spot

10 Skill Up gradation Support to Vocational Training Centers and I.T.Is in upper gradation

11 Information and Technology Budget provision of Information and Technology Department should be increased
