 DBA Programs lack consistency in purpose/outcome

 Temple University  Because Every C-Suite Needs a Doctor  The Executive Doctorate in Business Administration is a part- time, three-year program designed to equip senior managers and executives with the power to transform today’s business environment

 Cleveland State University  The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program at the Monte Ahuja College of Business is designed to engage and prepare a new generation of aspiring academicians and driven practitioners for rewarding careers.  Yes, this program is positioned to allow you to transition from industry to academia. It is also suitable for those who wish to adapt from industry experience into a consulting role and acquire the tools and perspective to conduct rigorous research & projects for clients. The Mitchell DBA is also perfect for instructors in business schools and colleges who want to upgrade their academic status with a doctoral degree and pursue careers in AACSB accredited institutions.

 Louisiana Tech University  A Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Louisiana Tech University will prepare you for a fulfilling career as a business academician. Graduates from our DBA program work as professors at high quality universities across the nation.

 Jacksonville University  The Davis Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is an applied program where candidates practice using analytical tools to solve current work problems and challenges. The program is ideal for executives, aspiring consultants, policy makers, or “clinical” or applied faculty desiring positions in schools of business internationally.

 Quality of Instruction  I have found that the online programs simply do not have the same rigor as programs from brick-and-mortar universities. Further...the research (if any) of candidates from online programs seems to lag considerably compared with the research agendas of candidates from brick-and-mortar universities.  The in-class discussions among students and faculty are vital to Ph.D. education. Online would not provide the same quality of education.

 Validity of Degree  “Such degrees are basically worthless for an academic job. I automatically disqualify such candidates.”  Face-to-Face  “High-quality Ph.D. programs are residential programs. Much of the learning is tacit and is acquired through face-to-face interaction and collaboration with faculty and other students.”  “I do not believe it possible to gain necessary theory and research skills without regular, face-to-face contact with faculty. “

 The extent to which student achieved stated aims/goals for doing DBA

 DBAs – Where are they now?  Industry  Career change? Did they achieve their goal objective in pursuing DBA?  What benefit was provided to employer?  Have they become practitioner/scholars?  Academia  Are they getting academic jobs? Keeping them? Where? What type of positions?  Are they publishing? Where? Impact?  What are the CSF in integrating traditional PhDs with clinical faculty?
