B. Read and check your answers Monarch Migration Many butterflies migrate between subtropical or tropical climates and temperate climates every year. The most spectacular is the migration of the monarch butterfly. Monarchs usually live for two years. In the summer, they fly north to the Unites States and southern Canada. In the fall, they migrate south to California and central Mexico. They arrive in California in October and in Mexico in November. Some monarchs fly 3,000 kilometers or more! In the spring, they fly north again.

Scientist do not understand monarch migration very well, but they continue to study this spectacular phenomenon. Many tourist go to Mexico from November to March to see these beautiful black and orange butterflies.
