MITA PORTFOLIO 2014 Ben D’Souza Grade 8

INTRODUCTION My name is Ben D’Souza. I am in the 8 th grade. My advisory teacher is Mrs. Williams. My favorite sport is basketball and my favorite team is the Golden State Warriors.

ELAH EVIDENCE This is an essay I wrote individually for Mrs. Van Treese in PR 3 about the book Chains. Chains is a book about a slave girl named Isabel who successfully escaped from slavery. This essay talks about the struggles Isabel had as a slave on her quest for freedom. We were reading this book because we were learning about slavery in class.

ELAH REFLECTION I learned: The structure of an essay: an introductory paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. The life of an African American slave during the 1700s

TECHNOLOGY EVIDENCE This is a game I made using RPG Maker in PR 6 for Mr. Cole. The project was done individually. The story of the game is that the village healer is sick, so the player must find the three ingredients that will make a cure for the village healer.

TECHNOLOGY REFLECTION I learned: How to creatively use RPG Maker’s commands to make a good game. The different ways to make the people in the game have some form of intelligence during conversations. How to make sure the player is able to deliver the items to right places to complete the game.

SCIENCE EVIDENCE This is a picture of a mousetrap car I made with three other people during PR 3 for Mr. Studer. The car moves when the stick that is connected to the spring pulls the string. The string is wrapped around the axel of the wheels, so it causes the wheels to spin. This project was part of the physics unit of science.

SCIENCE REFLECTION I learned: How to make a mousetrap car that is light weight enough to go far. How to make wheels that have enough grip to create friction on the ground and go far.

MATH EVIDENCE The screenshot from PowerSchool shows a CC3 Chapter 4 test I took in PR 3 for Mrs. Williams. I scored 101/100 on the test. The extra points were part of an extra credit question I answered. Chapter 4 was about graphing and algebraic equations.

MATH REFLECTION I learned: How to solve algebraic equations How to make equations into graphs How to make graphs into equations.
