Current NML Layout

 Overall length of building is 72M 3 cryomodules with feed and end cans ~40M Not enough room for both photoinjector and downstream diagnostics before beam dump Decision made to install first cryomodule with space for photoinjector and CCII Physical layout of modulators and relay racks not yet determined Network fiber to NML installation Cryo fiber between lab B and NML – done Fiber from NML to training center to mac room – in progress Current NML Layout

 Two 5MW Klystrons: RF gun and cryomodule Embedded processor for modulator control and interlocks eCos operating system with custom protocol for Epics interface Beta version of Epics application ready  Two 500KW Klystrons: CCI (from photoinjector) and CCII Modulator control needs interface  Possibly two low power 3.9 GHz klystrons Current NML Layout

 RF Interlocks Embedded processor for control and interlocks Testing/debugging at CCII Will be used for 3.9GHz coupler conditioning test stand Epics interface and conditioning sequencer Current NML Layout

 Cryo Controls Existing GUI for various cryo subsystems at MDB. NML will be similar, need input from cryo people. Have archive and plot applications, working on save/restore  LLRF Simcon 3.1f (Fermi version) Gustavo Cancelo et al. Doocs Epics Current NML Layout

 The photoinjector at A0 Most everything will be moved to NML The control system (IRMs) does not necessarily move 62 Power supplies: A/D, D/A, status, control 66 Misc. A/Ds: vacuum, temperatures, etc. 13 Stepping motors 35 Digital control & status devices: flag actuators, gate valves, camera lights, video mux 3 Servo motors: cave, laser, and transport iris 20 Event plus delay timer/gate channels 12 2MHz digitizer channels

 The Schedule First cryomodule arrives July 2007 Cryo, vacuum, and RF interlocks controls available RF interlocks commissioning and coupler conditioning (warm) into winter of 2007 Dismantle/move photoinjector late summer 2007 Gun will be ready ~December 2007 Second cryomodule in 2008 Current NML Layout

 Some Questions Clock/Timing system The existing clock system is adequate for initial conditioning. What are the requirements for NML? Data acquisition and control Power supply control Danfysik power supplies for solenoids and spectrometer magnet Generic A/Ds, stepping motors, gate valves, etc. Special applications Machine Protection System (MPS) 40KW beam power can burn holes
