ACTIVITIES SCORING SYSTEMS

SCORING SYSTEMS There are two types of scoring systems. OBJECTIVE SCORING & SUBJECTIVE SCORING

SCORING SYSTEMS OBJECTIVE SCORING In objective scoring the winner is decided without the opinion of a judge, it is based on fact. For example in a game of hockey or football the winner is decided by the team scoring the most goals. In sprinting the winner is decided by the fastest time. In the javelin the winner is decided by the longest distance thrown. THERE IS NO OPINION INVOLVED.

TASK 1 Complete the following table using activities that are based on objective scoring. ACTIVITYOBJECTIVE SCORING SYSTEM Fastest time Longest distance Lowest score Highest number of points

SCORING SYSTEMS SUBJECTIVE SCORING In subjective scoring the winner is decided by the opinion of a judge. For example in a gymnastics or ice skating competition the result will be decided by points being awarded by a panel of judges. The performer(s) with the highest number of points awarded wins. THE OPINION OF THE JUDGES IS INVOLVED

TASK 2 List 5 activities that are decided by SUBJECTIVE SCORING Remember- subjective scoring is based on a judges opinion.

TASK 3 Different activities can be decided by a number of measurements. Draw a line to link the activity to the correct measurement used to decided the winner of that activity.
