The Monitoring and Assessment Assignment TS – 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

The M and A Assignment Overview A minimum of 3000 words at Level 7 Develop teaching resources and revise an existing study unit in your placement school (or develop new one). Analyse your planning, show how you draw on reading and study to develop your ideas about effective teaching and assessment in English and how the school context affected your decisions.

Section 1 – The SoW Part A – The Study Unit A cover page giving an overview (setting the unit in context) Your lesson plans and evidence of AfL Lesson resources Detailed lesson evaluations

Section 1 – The SoW Part B Case Studies A sample of pupils that represent the ability levels in the class: Include the whole class record of assessment data Detail the individual progress and achievement of the pupils in the sample. Include examples of their marked work for key assessments that illustrates the quality of formative feedback. Write a report for each pupil, intended for parents, outlining each pupil’s progress and achievement and learning targets).

Part C The School Evaluation form signed by your mentor.

Section 2: The Narrative (3000 words) This section should outline how best practice in assessment for learning has informed best practice in teaching your specialism. Analyse the planning of your sequence of lessons, showing how you drew on reading study and the targets identified through your PLT task to develop effective practice in assessment for learning and how the school context affected your decisions.

Section 2: The Narrative (3000 words) In doing so you will justify the selection of the assessment strategies that you used within lessons and for the identified key assessments. Ensure you relate your choices to the literature, to your placement school, and to individual pupils. Evaluate the revised study unit as a whole in relation to the intended learning outcomes and consider how further improvements could be made. (A copy of both sections 1 and 2 should be given to your pathway tutor)

Dates The proposal to reach your pathway tutor by 9.30am on Monday 16 th February. The finished assignment to reach your tutor by 9.30am on Monday 27 th April 2015
