SAINT LOUIS HOMICIDE REPORT

District Based Visual Year: 2013 Highest Homicide District: District 6 Lowest Homicide District: District 2 Year: 2014 Highest Homicide District: District 5 Lowest Homicide District: District 2

Justification  Visual break down by district shows:  the level of difference present in each district  a relationship comparison between districts  a yearly comparison for each of the districts  This gives the decision maker:  A comparison between the effectiveness of current policies verse pervious policies and policies enacted in the different districts.

Neighborhood 2013 Visual

Neighborhood 2014 Visual

Justification  This visual representation allows for a break down of the neighborhoods within the 6 districts that are most affected by homicide.  With this information additional steps can be taken in the homicide heavy districts or just the homicide heavy neighborhoods depending on availability of resources.

Suggestion  Our suggestion is to increase the visibility of members of the police force in the areas that have higher rates of homicide.  This can be enacted through having additional patrols through those neighborhoods and districts.  This could also be achieved by having members of the police force moved from the lower homicide rate areas to the more heavily affected areas for some shifts or on a more constant basis.

Justification  Additional police patrols would be enough to show that there is an increased police presence in the areas that it is needed.  This small change would show control without being a show of force or provocation.  There would me a minimal cost for additional patrols verse hiring more officers or bringing in heavy equipment such as armored vehicles.

Q & A  We will now me taking any questions that you have.
