Writing the Body Part Two 3º BIL

What can your remember?  What should I include in my FIRST body paragraph?  What should I include in my SECOND body paragraph?

What should I include? PARAGRAPH THREE:  Has your country participated in any global conferences?  Has your country asked for the help of other countries or organizations?

What should I include? PARAGRAPH FOUR:  What does your country recommend we do to solve the problem? What can other countries do to help? What can your country do with the help of others?  Why is it important to follow your country’s recommendations?

And at the very end? A conclusion sentence! The bread of the burger that holds together all of your “juicy” facts.

EXAMPLE St. Lucia has also attended many international conferences about the issue of the aging population. In 2005, we attended the Caribbean Aging Population Conference. This conference allowed different Caribbean nations to talk about the best ways to help elderly people. Additionally, in 2002, we attended the World Assembly on Aging. This meeting was to talk about pensions and healthcare. We are also part of the international organization, Global Aging. This organization works with countries all over the world to find solutions to an aging population.

Is this a GOOD example?  Does it talk about international organizations?  Does it include information about how the country has worked with other countries to help with the problem?

Example An aging population is an important issue and St. Lucia recommends that all countries agree to raise their retirement age to at least 70 years old. This is a good idea because it would save money which we could spend on education and healthcare. We also recommend that all of the developed countries agree to start a fund to help developing countries pay for the healthcare of the elderly. This is necessary because many countries can’t afford to pay for pensions and their elderly live in poverty.

Is this a GOOD example?  Does it talk about recommendations?  What can St. Lucia and the world do to help solve the problem of an aging population?

Example In conclusion, we would like to work with other countries of the UN to find a solution to this serious problem.

Writing a Paragraph What should a paragraph look like?

An Ideal Paragraph TOPIC SENTENCE SUPPORTING SENTENCES CONCLUSION

EXAMPLE Topic Sentence: I would like a new pet. Supporting Sentences: I love animals, and I am a very responsible person. I need someone to play with after school, and our fish are not very loving. Conclusion: For these reasons, you should buy me a pet for Christmas.
