Presentation transcript:

The following is the most effective way that IASSIST fulfills its Education objective: Workshops at the annual conference (13) Sessions at the annual conference (10) Website (6) – though prevailing sentiment is that it *could* be – but perhaps currently is not IASSIST mailing list (4) IASSIST Quarterly (3) International outreach (3) Membership networking (3)

The following is the most effective way that IASSIST fulfills its Education objective: Website (10) Insular nature of annual conference – not enough dissemination of content (3) Annual conference programming – lack of breadth (2) Structure of Education Committee (2)

The following is the most effective way that IASSIST fulfills its Outreach objective: Outreach Committee (8) Collaboration with other organizations (5) Support of colleagues in countries not established in IASSIST (3) Word of mouth, direct networking (2) Welcoming newcomers (2)

The following is the least effective way that IASSIST fulfills its Outreach objective: Lack of Collaboration with other organizations (5) “IASSIST at a Glance” Brochure / distribution (5) Not enough efforts to welcome newcomers(4)

The following is the most effective way that IASSIST fulfills its Advocacy objective: Standards advocacy (4) Members’ actions (4) Data access advocacy (4)

The following is the least effective way that IASSIST fulfills its Advocacy objective: Lacking clarity of objectives (2) Inability to set agenda for volunteer advocates (3)

The ideal communication strategy for IASSIST would be: Maintain listserv as primary communication method (8) Not enough time to engage active communication methods such as the blog – keep communications simple!(5) Make IQ more accessible – indexed, online journal (3) Wiki for education (2) More options for smaller, sub-group communications (forums, blogs) (2)

Regarding organizational structure, I think that the organization should: Maintain current volunteer structure, encourage involvement (4) Hire administrative help to improve organizational responsiveness (4) Welcome participation, break-up “inner circle” or perception of it (3) Weigh *breadth* against *depth* in future growth plans (2) Consider specific, unique role of IASSIST, weigh relationship to parallel organizations such as IFDO (2)
