Different DJ’s  Radio DJs introduce and play music that is broadcast radio stations. Club DJs select and play music in bars, nightclubs, at parties or raves, or even in stadiums. Mobile DJs travel with portable sound systems and play recorded music at a variety of events. Some mobile DJs also serve as MC’s directing the attention of the guests, and keeping the audience focused on what is included in the event's agenda. There are also many competitions that specialise in mixing, scratching or other kinds of techniques.

Radio DJ  A radio DJ is responsible for playing music on the radio and talking about various topics in between sets of songs.  Radio DJs are often the most well known because they have the ability to reach millions of people each day. The format of a particular radio show is usually set by the DJ, and it can vary depending on the station, the time of day, and what type of radio the DJ is on. An A.M. radio DJ is likely to talk more than an F.M. radio DJ.

 Some radio shows allow listeners to call into the radio show and speak directly with the radio DJ. This allows the topic at hand to be discussed with a wider array of people, and it can make the radio show more interesting and less predictable. Some shows may or may not allow call-in guests. Such shows are usually done in the morning hours or late at night, though on A.M. radio stations. Radio DJ

 Sometimes a radio DJ may do an in-person event, at which the DJ broadcasts the show from a location outside the studio.  Most of the radio DJ's work revolves around playing preselected music created by the program director while injecting commercial breaks and other small segments between the music. The songs a DJ plays will depend on the type of radio station, current hits, the type of radio show, etc. Radio DJ

Mobile DJ  The mobile DJ is always moving around. Their can be any type of DJ because they're ready to setup at a short notice. Mobile DJs are often seen at local parties and weddings playing Top 40 songs because they appeal to the majority of those attending.  Mobile DJs can also play at festivals and other smaller parties that don't involve being on residence at a club. Mobile DJs will see a life of travel once they reach a certain level of recognition; the flexibility to do what you wish is one of the main draws of being a mobile DJ.

Mobile DJ  Mobile DJs tend to have a huge range of equipment from turntables to CDJs as well as a whole host of large speaker set ups and lighting rigs. A van is required to be a mobile DJ just to move everything about

 Club DJs have historically been on the leading edge innovation when it comes to leveraging the equipment they have for the best new sounds and memorable effects.  The club DJ’s mainly play in clubs and will often have a job at the club they've signed on with. These DJs are found at bars, dive and night clubs on regular occasions. They are able to draw the crowd to drink and dance which is why they're always in demand. Club DJ

 Club DJs help to promote the club while they promote themselves to frequent club-goers. The DJs that hold jobs at clubs will often become the more well known DJs over time. This requires much hard work, skill and personality to become well known.  The Clubs that DJ’s play at normally provide equipment but sometimes DJ’s have to get equipment. Club DJ

Party DJ  A Party DJ is a DJ who is hired to provide music and often times talk on subjects related to the event. The Party DJ does not broadcast on the radio but has adapted many of the techniques developed by radio DJs for handling vinyl recordings, CD, or digital files and how to professionally mix the audio. Party DJs also employ tactics created by Club DJs.

Internet DJ  The Internet DJ works similarly to the traditional DJ. They put a voice on a station's musical format. Some Internet radio stations are formatted very tightly but others still allow the DJ to pick his own music and create his own show.

Producer DJ  Producer DJ’s are basically DJ’s who produce or create their own music.  In order to do this the DJ must be able to create mash-ups, re-edits, remixes and original production.  Mashups – This is when two or more songs put together to create something new or an accapella tune put over the instrumental of another tune. This can be classified more as a traditional DJ skill though it is used by producer DJ’s

Producer DJ  Re-edits – This is when a DJ takes a finished tune, and changes it for some reason. Either cutting out a piece of the song or only using certain parts of the song to make a new version which can be played in the DJ’s set.  Remixes – This is when the DJ works with individual recordings of the drums, bass, vocals, synths etc. DJ’s can use all of the recordings if they want to but are sure to add original, new instrumentation of their own. Remixes are used to make a tune in a different style.

Producer DJ  Original productions – These are the DJ’s own work. This is when the DJ creates his/her own music without using someone else's work. They create the beats, the tune and lyrics in the song. Original productions carry the DJ’s name as it was their own creation.

Club DJ vs. Radio DJ  A radio DJ is responsible for playing music on the radio while club DJ’s mainly play in clubs  Radio DJs do an equal amount of talking and playing songs while Club DJs talk less and play more music.  Club DJs are found at bars, dive and night clubs on regular occasions while radio DJs are found in studios.  Radio DJs are often the most well known because they have the ability to reach millions of people each day while club DJs requires much hard work, skill and personality to become well known.  They both often have a job at the place they've signed on with.

Producer DJ vs. Party DJ  Party DJs are hired to provide music and often times talk on subjects related to the event while Producer DJs produce or create their own music.  Party DJs use many of the Club DJ’s techniques while the Producer DJs use techniques of their own to create music.  Producer DJs have original productions while Party DJs don’t.

Mobile DJ vs. Internet DJ  Mobile DJs move around a lot while internet DJs tend to stay in one place.  Mobile DJs tend to have a lot of equipment while internet DJs only need a computer, anything else is optional.  Mobile DJs normally have more freedom in their song choices and gigs while internet DJs have a set format, however some internet DJs are allowed to make their own playlist/ music and/ show.
