Shelton School District Replacement Levy This is not an additional levy. The levy rate is projected not to exceed $3.32 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. It may even come in at a lower rate.

Replacement Levy Amount to be collected: $6,570,000 for the first year $6,786,000 for the second year $7,030,000 for the third year The district will receive an additional $7 million over 3 years from the state and our non- high districts, but only if the levy passes.

Replacement Levy These levy dollars provide funding for basic education services and day-to-day operating expenses that are not fully funded by the state or federal education money such as:

Replacement Levy Regular classroom and special program teachers and assistants, such as music, P.E., art, technology, NJROTC, etc. Instructional materials Teacher training to meet unfunded federal mandates Classroom furniture and equipment Secondary Summer School Special Education

Replacement Levy Learning assistance and remedial instruction Truancy Nursing services School libraries Athletics and activities and after school programs such as band, choir, drama, and various clubs Swimming pool operations and high school auditorium costs School safety and emergency preparedness

Replacement Levy Significant transportation costs beyond what the state provides Increased utilities and insurance costs Technology needs Maintenance and repair of facilities

Replacement Levy These programs and services are necessary for quality education. Many of these programs and services are required, but since the district does not receive adequate funding from the state or federal government, the district depends on levy funds to provide these services for students.

Replacement Levy Voter registration forms are available at the Mason County Elections Department, public libraries, schools, and other government offices. You may also register or obtain a form on-line at

Replacement Levy Senior and disabled citizens may be eligible for an exemption from all or part of the levy. Call the Mason county Assessor’s Office at ext. 567.
