The muscular system

Three types of muscle Smooth muscle is an involuntary muscle. Example – digestive system Cardiac muscle is an involuntary muscle found in the heart. Has pronounced striations. Skeletal muscle are voluntary muscles that are used to move bones.

Skeletal muscle contraction Muscles are arranged in opposing pairs. Muscle fibers consist on myofibrils. Myofibrils are made of actin and myosin (protein) subunits. A sarcomere is the functional unit of a muscle.

How do muscles move? Muscles move by contracting and then relaxing. Sliding filament theory is used to explain muscle contraction. t/chp47/ html t/chp47/ html How is a muscle contraction triggered?
