DESIGN GAME PECHA KUCHA 2010

Strategy Games (e.g. Red Alert) Simulation Games (e.g. Formula 1) Board Games (e.g. Poker) Arcade Games (e.g. Soccer) Action Games / First Person Shooter (e.g. CS)

Pictionary Topics Different ways to play this game. To come up with new ideas, think about what that the players have in common / shared experiences. players TIPS: Friends from college can create cards representing major landmarks in their college towns. High school buddies can make cards based on their favorite songs from the good old days.

Being Creative within Constraints – As game developers, resources are limited. Boundary conditions have to be checked. (e.g. Racing Car CAN NOT go beneath the race track! ) Reality within Virtuality- Very important especially while simulating real world environments. (e.g. Collisions need to simulated. GPUs are good )

Randomness so important ! (e.g. Don’t want to take the fun away and have walkthroughs. (Hitman) ) Artificial Intelligence – Use AI in games like Formula 1 Racing allowing very real experience.

Simulation Games – Formula 1 Why ? 1. No need to think ! 2. Fast responses 3. I like driving Action Games – First Person Shooter (CS) Why ? 1. Need to Think ! 2. Very fast responses ! Puzzle games - Sudoku
