Residency You may have problems deciding where you are resident if you spend part of the year in Spain and part of the year in the UK. It is not necessarily related to being registered at the town hall, or having a residency certificate. Temporary visitor to Spain / Studying in Spain If you are a citizen of an EEA country you must present your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to the Spanish authorities. This will provide you with all medically necessary treatment during the course of your stay and includes the treatment and monitoring of ongoing, chronic conditions as long as the treatment can´t wait until you get home. If you are in receipt of a pension or long-term sickness benefit from Spain, the INSS will issue you with a document showing the result of your pension or benefit application. In order to get a Spanish health card (tarjeta sanitaria) you will first need to contact the Overseas Health Care Team to get a legislation letter (in Spanish) confirming that the UK no longer gives you or your dependants healthcare coverage.
