Presentation transcript:

If your favourite celebrity was coming to your town, What would they arrive in? What would they wear? How would people react to them? What would they do? Is this similar or different to how Jesus was greeted when he entered Jerusalem?

Watch the clip. Identify what about Jesus’ entry is similar to a celebrity’s arrival different from a celebrity’s arrival. 1.Explain how the people treated Jesus like a celebrity when he entered Jerusalem. 2.Explain how the way Jesus entered Jerusalem was not like a celebrity would enter. **What does it say about Jesus the way he arrived on a donkey? Hosanna! Blessed is the coming Kingdom of our father David!!

So what did it mean, what they were shouting ? Hosanna! Blessed is the coming Kingdom of our father David!! Why might people have thought Jesus WAS like a King?

King David King David was the best of Jewish kings, and lived 1000 years before Jesus. God loved him, and David loved God. God promised David that one of his sons would be King forever… Jesus was related to King David (on Mary & Joseph’s side) so he was an heir to the throne Jesus talked a lot about the Kingdom (the Kingdom of God) 1.Explain who King David was 2.Explain 2 reasons why people thought Jesus would be a king for them **Why would it have made the Romans nervous that Jesus was greeted as a King? Hosanna! Blessed is the coming Kingdom of our father David!!

Which of the things from the list below would you include in a picture of the scene? swords palm branches white stallion a crown red carpet donkey cloaks a royal carriage crowds Cameras Draw what happened on Palm Sunday.
