The Torah,Dead sea scrolls and the old testament. How do they link? By Max Fenoughty and Joe Crimmins.

Introduction… Have you ever thought about the old testament. Probably not as it seems difficult to understand. However, there is more to it than you think and not thinking about it may mean that you have a small understanding about it! Read on for a religious road of discovery……

The Old Testament….. The old testament is the first part of the bible. It was written before the birth of Jesus. But how does this have anything to do with the Torah??? Interestingly, the Bible and the Torah share the first five books. Christian everyday life especially the commandments as they are God’s laws which Christians and Jews must follow. Oh. So that influences Christians and Jews beliefs and behaviour every day and shapes their lives. Yes. Well done

The Torah The word Torah means “instruction” and is a guide for Jews. Therefore the old testament is the old agreement between God and the Jews. This sometimes effects their behaviour. Oh. I think that I understand. Is,because it contains the word of God, it is well protected and therefore effects the daily behaviour, beliefs and shapes lives of Jews. In a word….. Yes.

The Dead Sea Scrolls The scrolls were discovered in eleven caves along the northwest shore of the dead sea between the years 1947 and when a boy threw a rock into it and heard a smashing sound. Soooooooooo……. These scrolls were examined and turned out that they translated to the old testament. When these were compared to the modern day bible’s old testament, they were the same word for word And this meant….. That it wasn’t changed. But the important thing is that these are key to Jews and Christians in everyday life and beliefs co.uk/education /clips/zs7tfg8 For more information see:

The ten commandments These shape Jews and Christians day to day lives as these are the ten rules that they MUST obey if they want to be strong in God’s eyes.

The end.
