Internationalization at Villanova Villanova University Goals #2 and #5: –Villanova…will be a community of men and women of increasingly diverse in culture, ethnicity, race and socioeconomic status and welcoming to individuals of diverse religious traditions. Villanova University…will enroll and retain a national and international student body of a progressively higher academic quality. Academic Strategic Plan –Villanova will…enrich student academic experiences by promoting international and multicultural perspectives. OIS Mission Statement –The Office of International Studies…is committed to ensuring that an international educational perspective is an integral part of a Villanova University education.

Institute for International Education Open Doors Report, 2011 Villanova University ranked 3rd in the nation for participation rates For mid-term and short-term programs VU ranked 4 th in the nation. VU ranked 15 th in the nation for study abroad participation as percentage of student body (6 th percentile) For ALL universities, VU in the top 10 th percentile

Study Abroad “Snapshot” 39% of 2011 graduating class had studied abroad In , students are on 34 different programs in 38 nations. 50% of students on Villanova-specific programs 70% in non-English speaking countries 24% of study abroad population is multicultural.

Our Philosophy “Study abroad is an extension of, not a break from, a Villanova University education.” (Skills) “We are not a travel agency.” (Immersion) Students have the ability to make informed choices, i.e. no “approved list” (Criteria)
