WELCOME FUTURE SILVER HAWK FAMILIES!

Tonight’s Agenda: Block scheduling On line registration Important policies Support networks Working together to ensure success for all Silver Hawks

Why Block Scheduling? Students are able to focus on fewer classes at a time Students study each curricular area more in depth Students have fewer teachers, which allows for greater personalization Students are able to earn 10 more credits each year as compared to traditional high schools

Why Block Scheduling? We have a 4x4 block schedule: Students have 4 classes each term for 4 terms Classes last for 90 minutes The block schedule allows students to complete classes in half the time as courses that are offered at traditional high schools

Success on the Block Schedule: Prompt and regular attendance are vital Missing one day of school is like missing two days of class work Your student should ask for and complete make up work in a timely manner when he/she is absent Remember that grades and credits count toward high school graduation and college admissions 230 credits are required for graduation

Attendance and Credits Please contact the attendance office within two days each time your student is absent. After two days, any unexcused absence counts as a truancy. Truancy can result in loss of credit and poor or failing grades.
