BBF Liaison on Service Chaining Hongyu Li Co-editor of SD-326 Flexible Service Chaining

Brief Intro on SIMR WG and SD-326 SIMR WG –Service Innovation and Market Requirements Working Group –Drive BBF with medium-to-long term work directions and requirements in order to lead innovation in broadband networks SD-326 Flexible Service Chaining –Still a work in progress –the final document intended for internal BBF use –select use cases and identify technical gaps that will require technical specification work in other BBF WGs or partner organisations (e.g. IETF) –expect that it will lead to published extensions to broadband network architecture and corresponding nodal requirements (a typical BBF activity) possibly imply some new protocol(s) or extensions (a typical IETF activity)

Use Case Template & Network Arch. Use Case Template –Title –Service Model and Story Highlights –Business Drivers –Deployment Model –Actors –High-level architectural context –Related and Derivative Use Cases –Issue(s) Spotlight –Inputs to market requirements MBN “ + ” L3 BNG HTTP Filter Customer Premises Network CG-NAT PUBLIC INTERNET AAA Server

Current Use Cases Internet access, CGNAT and Web Filtering Internet access and network-based Parental Control service Lawful Intercept and Deep Packet Inspection Geographically distributed Service Functions: Lawful Intercept, Deep Packet Inspection and URL Filtering

Expectations for SFC WG Review and comment on the BBF use cases Take those BBF use cases it feels are relevant and consider them Liaise back –any comments on the use cases to the BBF, –note the SFC WG consideration of the BBF use cases –asking those interested in BBF to get involved on SFC –updating relevant use cases or proposing new ones
