Unit15 Lesson 2 Different Schools Education systems vary from time to time and from place to place. And there are different schools for different purposes. Generally speaking there are two kinds of education: Traditional education and Alternative education.
Compare two kinds of education using the key words. Traditional education: That provided by societies before or alongside the introduction of a formal educational system.
Alternative education: A school based on a non-traditional, new, or non-standard educational philosophy. A wide range of philosophies and teaching methods are offered by alternative schools; some have strong political, scholarly, or philosophical orientations, while others are more ad-hoc assemblies of teachers and students dissatisfied with some aspect of mainstream education.
Talk about the advantages and disadvantages of the two kinds of education. 1.What’s good for a traditional school? What’s not good for it? 2.What about alternative education? 3.What kind of education are you receiving? Do you like it or not? Why or why not?
You are to listen to a dialogue between Nicholas and Jack about their learning experiences. Before listening, learn the listening strategies.
