Heat Transfer
Thermal energy Temperature is the average amount of energy of motion of each particle of a substance. Thermal energy is the total energy of motion in the particles of a substance. Heat is the transfer of thermal energy from a hotter object to a cooler one.
Heat Transfer 3 types of heat transfer Convection- the transfer of heat by the movement of a fluid (liquids and gases). Ex. Making macaroni and cheese
Types of Heat transfer Conduction-The transfer of heat between 2 substances that are in direct contact. Ex. Making macaroni and cheese Radiation- the direct transfer of energy by electromagnetic waves (through a vacuum like space) Ex. Sitting in the sun
Heating the troposphere Radiation, conduction, & convection work together to heat the troposphere by convection currents. Convection currents result from the upward movement of warm air and the downward movement of cool air.
