Metaphor Definition: The comparison of 2 things without using like or as Example: You tell me

Metonymy Definition: The use of a related word in place of what is really being said Example: The suits were at a meeting. (The suits stand for businesspersons.) Pen is mightier than the sword. (Pen refers to written words and sword to military force.) Let me give you a hand. (Hand means help.)

Moral Definition: The lesson a story or fable teaches Example: What is the moral of “the Tortoise and the Hare”?

Motive Definition: The reason a character does something Example: What is my motive for making you learn literary terms?
