Triangles There are 4 types of triangle. Scalene Isosceles Equilateral Right Angle

Scalene triangles have 3 sides of different lengths.

Isosceles triangles have 2 sides the same length Isosceles triangles have 2 sides the same length. Those sides are marked with short lines.

Equilateral triangles have 3 sides the same length Equilateral triangles have 3 sides the same length. Those sides are marked with short lines.

Right angle triangles have one corner that is 90 degrees Right angle triangles have one corner that is 90 degrees. This corner is marked with a small square.

Quadrilaterals Quadrilaterals have ____ sides. There are many special types of quadrilaterals. 4 Rectangle Square

Parallelagram Rhombus

Diamond Trapezium

Kite Irregular Quadrilateral

Interior Angles The interior angles of a shape are the angles __________ the shape. The angles add up to an amount that depends on the number of sides the shape has. More sides means bigger total angle. inside

Sides Total Interior Angles 3 180 4 360 5 540 6 7 8 9 10 720 900 1080 1260 1440

We can use the total interior angles to calculate any missing angles We can use the total interior angles to calculate any missing angles. Subtract what we know from the total and what is left is the missing angle.

Triangles add up to 180 degrees Triangles add up to 180 degrees. Something + 37 + 71 = 180 180 – 37 – 71 = 72 The missing angle is 72 degrees.

ExteriorAngles The interior angles of a shape are the angles __________ the shape. To measure the angle you make each side a little longer. To make angles at each corner. outside

Exterior angles always add up to 360, no matter how many sides the shape has.
