HOW DOES POLLUTION AFFECT ANIMALS IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES? By: Tiana B., Diane R., Makaleigha H., and Nyjah R.

WHAT WE KNOW NEED TO KNOW How many animals die because of air pollution annually? How many countries should we name? Which countries should we name? How many and which animals should we name? What are the top causes of animal deaths? What are the death rates? What are the top pollution rates?

HOW MANY ANIMALS DIE BECAUSE OF AIR POLLUTION ANNUALLY? Birds million in the US, Pesticides kill 72 million birds, plastic waste is responsible for the death of about a million birds Fish- plastic waste is responsible for more than 100,000 sea mammals each year

WHAT ARE THE TOP CAUSES OF ANIMAL DEATHS? Dogs and many other animals can die from pollution. An example is suffocation. Do not leave plastic, paper, or cardboard where your pet or any animal can get to it. Air particulates can cause cardiac arrest in dogs.

WHAT POLLUTANTS ARE MOST DEADLY TO ANIMALS? One major pollutant in mercury. When company’s put mercury in streams, rivers, and lakes, animals consume the pollution. And when we eat those fish, it kills anyone and everyone who eats them. Mercury causes birds to lay fewer eggs.

WHAT ARE THE TOP POLLUTION RATES? The Top Pollution Rates by Ozone Los Angeles Visalia Bakersville Fresno Hanford

EXTRA FACTS -Smog: Smog causes land to not be seen. Mountains an 80% visibility loss in the summer and an 40% visibility loss in the winter. -Pollution: The EPA finalized new air pollution standards for power plants that will cut mercury emissions by 91%
