ICT resources for maths and science teachers Workshop 6: Using charts

Refresh your memory Previous workshop Using drawing tools  Have you used drawing tools in new contexts?  Do you have anything to share?

Experience People are wise in proportion, not to their experience, but to their capacity for experience. * George Bernard ShawGeorge Bernard Shaw

Activity 1-2: Plotting and charting data Work in pairs. 90 min Plot the ticker tape data. Plot a graph of displacement (s) on the Y-axis, against time (t) on the X-axis.

Activity 2: Challenge – quadratic equations Work in groups of min Develop a set of questions that you would ask learners  In order to help the learners develop an understanding of the data.

Between workshops Think about the various data that you collect in science classes.  Write down some ideas about how you could use the spreadsheet to plot and chart the data.  Write down some questions that you would ask the learners to help them understand the principles being illustrated by the data and chart.
