Mini Drama FAQ’s Frequently Asked Questions…

Q- When is this due? A- Wednesday Q- What if I’m going to be gone from class? A- If you are absent 1 or more days during this there is a separate assignment for you to make up the points.

Q- How many things do we need to have from the primary sources in our mini drama? A- 2 for an “A”, 1 for a “D” Q- How do we include things from the primary sources in the mini drama? Should we read them? A- No, don’t read them. By us watching we should learn 2 things that came from your primary sources.

Q- Does our entire group get the same grades? A- In most cases yes, but if one person is very unprepared there have been times when their grade is different, especially if I see them wasting time in class while others are working Q- Can you get extra credit for going above and beyond? A- No but you can get a 20/20! A+

Q- Do you give us the props for this or do we have to bring our own? A- You will bring/make/create your own props as part of your creativity grade. Q- How long do these have to be? A- You are not graded on time. Typically they last 2-3 minutes total.

Q- Can we make it funny? A- You should not try to make it a comedy because of the sensitive nature of slavery. Try to keep it historically accurate. With that said it is normal to have people laugh when classes perform.

Q- What do we have to hand in? A- Nothing. Q- Can I be a slave in one scene and an owner in a different scene? A- Yes Q- Does everyone in our group need to be in the scenes? A- you do not need to have all people in every scene but they must be in at least 1.

Q- Why are we doing this? A- The idea is to learn about 8 different topics related to life as a slave. You will perform 1 and learn about 7 others through watching. You will then have a basic understanding about main aspects of slavery.
