Verbs A verb expresses the action or condition of a person, place, or thing

Action Verbs Action verbs indicate the action of a person or thing and it can be physical or mental. Examples: My Mom makes dinner every night. Allison wrote a letter to her friend. I forgot my book last night and couldn’t complete my homework.

Linking Verbs Definition: A linking verb connects the subject to a noun or adjective that identifies it or describes it. Examples: Mom was ready to go. Ms. Aldridge is a teacher. It tastes good.

Link the subject and the noun or adjective in the sentence with the linking Verb My mother is great at cooking. Baseball games are fun to watch.

Helping Verb Definition: A helping verb is a verb that comes before the main verb and adds to its meaning. Example: He was leading the race. He had been running the Race. He should have been winning the Race.

Identify the helping verb. She is wondering around the Amusement park. Danny is going to the races this weekend. Dogs are running around the park with their owners. My friend is coming over to my house later.
