Programme for “Target 3” – test of alternative bearing materials (from Jason Tarrant) –Drawing updates by 11 th November –Bearings: Material approval – Vespel & Torlan – (ISIS) 13 th November Material receipt 21 st January Bearings machined & ready 27 th January –Shaft machined, polished & coated 7 th January –Stator assembled, welded 21 st January –Complete target assembly 2 nd February –Test, strip, inspect 2 nd -19 th February; continue run –In parallel, investigate alternative, coated bearings Continued investigation of Target 2 –DLC coating analysis with TecVac in progress –Field measurement of Stator 2 November-December Target Schedule 1

Phase 1 (control from PC GUI) well underway –FPGA control code written, undergoing simulation –Laboratory testing – November-December –USB interface & GUI testing December-January –Phase 1 ready for implementation in ISIS early next year Dependent on other responsibilities of people involved! Phase 2 (analogue daughter boards) –Increased control, monitoring & error reporting –Full computer control of target hardware settings –Automatic setting of delays, amplifier gains etc –Hardware, firmware & software –Complete by end August 2010 Phase 3 (target DAQ upgrade) –USB DAQ, removing dependency on 3rd party drivers –Integrate with EPICS & DATE systems –By early 2011 Controls Schedule 3
