Purpose Of Lesson To learn the very basic and absolutely necessary PC software. To learn what the basic routine PC maintenance software are and how to use them to do maintenance.

Software Can Be Purchased or Downloaded It is a collection of files that when run operate a program Can Be Good or BAD!! (Such as a Virus) Copyrights almost always apply – you are usually allowed only one backup copy.

Copy Right Infringement Copyright mean that the intellectual property is OWNED by someone.

License Agreement Means that the Copyright holder is licensing you to use the software with conditions.

Shareware No copyright it is free to use by anyone. Could even be sold or used to make money. NEGATIVES: Usually no support, not as up to date, USUALLY does not work as well as something that costs $$$, etc. Examples: Freemake video converter, Linux, VLC media player, etc. work good for me!!!

ILLEGAL SHARING Can be used for legal file sharing However, most of the file sharing is illegal and most contains viruses.

Public Domain It was given away by the owner to Public Domain Or, it is so old that it becomes property of everyone. Usually means over 100yrs old!

MOST IMPORTANT SOFTWARE!! Antivirus Software Can be downloaded or purchased. Regular downloads are required to keep up to date virus protection. There are free ones out there! But, remember you often get just what you pay for.
